Palm Beach, again...

got a chance to take one of those solo trips again...(there have been a couple I haven't mentioned on this blog; I just love the place! I go anytime I get a chance)

I think I know why I like it so much -- it's as close to Europe-by-the Sea as I've seen in the US

Delia

P.S. The schnitzel at Cafe L'Europe took me back to Austria... (It's been five years or so since I was in Vienna last time); the apple strudel was not quite an accurate rendition (the pastry needs to have more volume and be baked to a golden brown and walnuts and breadcrumbs are supposed to go into the filling also, not just the apples...) but it was good nonetheless; fresh squeezed OJ and linzer tart at the Champs-Elysees French bakery not bad either...

P.P.S. Taverna Opa at CityPlace (in West Palm Beach) had a Romanian song at one point (as part of a belly dancing soundtrack) -- the waiter had told me that was Greek music, but I set him straight :)... I didn't know what I was supposed to do when an older guy came over to my table and asked me why I was sitting all by myself and how I should go join his group at the bar and have a drink at his expense... Nope! thank you... (I was quite happy in my solitude) D.

our own book club of...one!

I figured all I needed to do is pick up the right book and we can start our own private "book club". I was pleasantly surprised that the local library actually went out and bought a copy of the book I had in mind, at my suggestion (thanks "Friends of the library!"): Einstein's mistakes (which is supposed to give a good idea of th state of physics today, as well as go over things Einstein didn't quite get right... according to what people believe today -- tomorrow might be a completely different story...)

Delia

P.S. anyways, I'm the only on that's reading the book (G's got other things to do...) D.

G: "*Su*port! *Su*port!"

(while he's propping up my private parts)

"We wouldn't want things to start sagging..." --> 'course, not! what would I do without him? D.

(biking) "You are falling behind, D..."

like I don't know... (he just doesn't get it that not everybody has his calves...)

Delia

P.S. got him beat hands down at swimming, though... (I can comfortably swim for about three hours straight) and there is no contest as to any of the winter sports (just would not put anything that looks like skies or skates on his feet -- afraid he would break some bones...) D.

one way to read the New York Times in a deserted Starbucks

facing G. and reading the backside of the page he was reading while I was holding it up and struggling not to explode in laughter when he would wink to the side of the page and make obscene gestures with his hands...

Delia

P.S. don't remember being "unattached" ever being this much fun... D.

I wanted to get mad at him but I couldn't...

I was in the kitchen, in my undies, trying to get a glass of milk when he poured water from the pitcher directly down my bare bum... (we have tile on the kitchen floor) and had the nerve to "innocently" ask me: "Are you, wet?".

Delia

P.S. we ended-up laughing like kids... D.

Red stilettos (G.: "Is that *all* you are going to be wearing?)

I'm usually ultra-comfortable but once in a while I'm tempted by a pair of illogical but sexy shoes, such as fire-engine-red stilettos... D.
